Roth Bar & Grill is situated at Hauser & Wirth Somerset, a pioneering world-class art gallery. Roth Bar & Grill plays an integral part in the Hauser & Wirth Somerset experience combining seasonal food with contemporary art.

ROTH BAR

ROTH BAR

The restaurant, designed by the project’s architect, Luis Laplace, has at its core a site-specific bar created by long-term friends and artists, Björn and Oddur Roth, the son and grandson of artist Dieter Roth. The specially commissioned bar is a tribute to Björn’s late father and is comprised of scavenged materials – a central motif throughout Dieter Roth’s work.  Inspired by the history of Durslade Farm, Björn and Oddur Roth used a mix of agricultural and found objects on site and areas surrounding Bruton.

DINING ROOM

DINING ROOM

The dining room is adorned with an intimate and highly personal salon style hang of works based on the intertwining theme of food, cooking, animals and the countryside, incorporating Hauser & Wirth’s family of artists alongside works from the private collection of Iwan and Manuela Wirth. The outdoor terrace and surrounding grounds at Durslade Farm feature changing sculptures all year round for you to enjoy alongside your culinary experience.

OUDOLF FIELD

OUDOLF FIELD

Internationally-renowned landscape designer, Piet Oudolf, has designed the landscaping scheme for the entire site, including Oudolf Field – a large perennial meadow that provides a seamless journey between Durslade Farm and the rural Somerset landscape beyond. Oudolf created a garden that is timeless throughout the changing seasons, providing a sanctuary for visitors to slow down and savour moments within nature at their own pace. At the top of Oudolf Field sits the Radić Pavilion, designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radić, unveiled at the Serpentine Gallery, London in 2014.

EXHIBITIONS

From Saturday 28th January Hauser & Wirth Somerset opens two new exhibitions, ‘The New Bend’ and ‘Rodney Graham. Getting it Together in the Country’.

Curated by Legacy Russell, ‘The New Bend’ brings together 12 contemporary artists working in the raced, classed and gendered traditions of quilting and textile practice.

In dialogue with our rural setting, ‘Rodney Graham. Getting it Together in the Country’ focuses on the artist’s late body of work, ‘The Four Seasons’, a lightbox series created between 2011 and 2013.
